Single Letter

Initial letter handpainted in dark pink with raspberries on watercolour paper.

Poppies represent a variety of things to different cultures; from beauty, fertility and success, to sleep, and in the UK at least, remembrance.

The initial itself was 50 x 50mm on 300gsm watercolour paper within a 120 x 120mm double mount with a 3mm green slip.

The main text was handwritten in Chinese ink on calfskin vellum with this illuminated initial and the shield painted at the start of it.
